Milan: Burgundy & Chocolate
Leather, lacquer & a little travertine light.
Italy · 6 colorsTwelve burgundy palettes, each drawn from a real place or material rather than a stock photograph: leather and lacquer in Milan, an Oxford reading room, limewash and verdigris from Burgundy, rose plaster in Venice, tadelakt in Marrakech and the Malachite Room of the Winter Palace. Every study gives six named colors with hex codes, rooms in that palette and a palette you can copy or keep. The rooms are imagined interiors made for each study.
A rule the studies share: let a pale ground take most of the room and keep the darkest burgundy to velvet, leather or lacquer, where its depth reads as material rather than paint.
