CURATORIAL TREATISE

From Physical Lineage to Digital Space

“Transparency is not emptiness; the glass vessel gives structure to light itself.”

At Villa Tugendhat in Brno, Mies van der Rohe placed a rare honey-colored Moroccan onyx partition wall in the living space; when the low winter sun strikes it, the stone becomes translucent and glows with an amber red luminescence. This physical transformation of structural stone into glowing ambient light is the direct precursor to luminous glassmorphic UI cards and dark-mode depth layering.
