A seasonal material study / 009
Persimmon & Plum
Pale wood, dark lacquer & one bright harvest.
Three autumn recipes explore the same conversation: a pale ground, a deep plum shadow and the concentrated orange of fruit.

02 / Play with the composition
Let one orange note glow.
Keep the bright fruit colour in a small area and give it a dark neighbour. Hinoki and paper open up the Kōshū recipes; oatmeal cloth and walnut make the November recipe softer and more domestic.

Sources & interpretation
The Kōshū region’s autumn fruit culture includes persimmons peeled and hung to dry. The Kōshū recipes draw on that material world; the November recipe is a separate contemporary arrangement of fruit, wool and walnut.
The palette follows the authored material references in this collection. Room, object and material imagery were created for this study. These are imagined settings, with no affiliation to the fictional interface brands.
