The source / Art history
A month above the scene.
The Limbourg brothers painted February in 1411–1416. Its snow-covered farm and figures warming by a fire sit below the Sun’s passage from Aquarius into Pisces. Wool, felt, birch, hay and smoked wood translate the seasonal contrast. The blue enamel cup and the imagined interior are modern material choices, not documented objects from the manuscript.
