Capricorn: The Midwinter Hall
Chantilly · Slate, evergreen & oxblood velvet.
A winter palette after the woodland of December’s Très Riches Heures, where the zodiac arc passes from Sagittarius to Capricorn. Slate, holly and deep velvet meet wool and lichen in an imagined stone-walled hall.

The source / Art history
A month above the scene.
Begun by the Limbourg brothers in 1411–1416 and finished by Barthélemy d’Eyck around 1446, the December calendar miniature depicts a boar hunt before the Château de Vincennes. Its zodiac arc moves from Sagittarius into Capricorn. Our evergreen, slate, horn, wool and velvet translate a midwinter woodland into a contemporary interior; these objects are editorial choices rather than an inventory of the manuscript’s materials.
