Sagittarius: The November Wood
Chantilly · Acorns, russet wool & old brass.
A late-autumn palette after the acorn gathering in November’s Très Riches Heures. The glowing trees lead to russet wool, chestnut wood and warm linen, translated into an imagined oak-panelled study.

The source / Art history
A month above the scene.
Jean Colombe’s November miniature, painted around 1485, follows swineherds feeding pigs on acorns. Above them the Sun’s chariot travels from Scorpio to Sagittarius. The russet trees and gathered acorns inform this study’s contemporary material selection; the drawer is not a facsimile or a pigment analysis.

North up, east left. Relative visual magnitude controls dot size. Positions use J2000.0 and a local projection with a cosine correction. The connecting lines were authored for this card; constellation boundaries and the Sun’s current position are not drawn. Print on A4 or Letter in portrait orientation.

Tradition / Historical classification
A note on the tradition.
In the traditional classification recorded by Lunologium, Sagittarius is mutable fire, with Jupiter as its traditional ruler. These are cultural categories, separate from the computed solar position and the colours sampled for this study.
