Taurus: The April Loggia

Ferrara · Sage silk, limestone & beeswax.

April’s Taurus sits within a courtly calendar at Palazzo Schifanoia. Pale green silk, white blossom and honey wax bring the season into an imagined garden loggia, with limestone holding the light.

The source / Art history

A month above the scene.

Francesco del Cossa’s April pairs Taurus with Venus at Schifanoia. Sage silk, hawthorn, horn and beeswax are this study’s spring interpretation. The imagined loggia borrows their material contrast without presenting itself as a reconstruction of the palace or its court.
